Six: Self Assessment of Writing
Being able to detail and understand your writing
process will help you improve your writing in
all disciplines. This reflective exercise will
help you identify your stumbling blocks and
ask you to think of ways to avoid or deal with
them in the future.
- Outline your writing process. What did you
do first, second, third? How much time did
you spend on each step and how much time did
you have between steps?
- Do you think that this process is effective?
If not, what aspects need improvement?
- Who is the target audience? How do you make
this clear?
- What resources did you use to write this
paper and how did you locate them?
- What did you find to be the most enjoyable
aspect of this assignment?
- What did you find to be the most frustrating
aspect of this assignment?
- What did you find to be the most challenging
aspect of this assignment?
- Did you use a writing center or have anyone
critique your paper and was this helpful?
- How many drafts were completed before the
final draft was turned in?
- How would you do things differently for
the next writing assignment?
